West Middlesex gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Cochranton Cardinals. For the Big Reds, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.
Kaylee Long made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Long was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Nickel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

West Middlesex wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-1 win against Eisenhower on the 20th.
