Portage Christian suffered their biggest defeat since November 18, 2023 last Tuesday. They were dealt a 91-31 loss at the hands of Victory Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Portage Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Victory Christian Academy is ranked 120th).
Even though Community Baptist Christian has not done well against Indiana Christian Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Community Baptist Christian walked away with a 64-56 win over Indiana Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Community Baptist Christian had a senior duo take command as Jay Clifton scored 31 points and Layne Cook scored 26 points along with five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cook has scored at least a third of Community Baptist Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daviea Jones, who scored two points along with 13 rebounds.
Portage Christian's loss was their 19th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Community Baptist Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5.
Portage Christian was taken down by Community Baptist Christian 75-24 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clifton, who scored 22 points along with six steals.
