Basketball Recap: Stanton Takes a Loss

If Stanton was riding high fresh off their 63-27 takedown of Westside on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between the Blue Devils and the Sandalwood Saints didn't end well, with the Blue Devils falling 67-49. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Saints from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Loss or not, Stanton got some senior leadership from Aiyanna Smiley and Jaiden Perkins. Smiley posted 16 points, while Perkins scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Perkins.

Sandalwood was led to victory by Kirsten Gudmalin and Holeigh Brown. Gudmalin earned 28 points, while Brown put up 19 points. Those 19 points gave Brown a new career-high.

Stanton now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Sandalwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Stanton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-28 defeat against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on the 8th. As for Sandalwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-31 win against Atlantic Coast on the 9th.
