The North Central Knights posted their closest victory since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Anselmo-Merna and snuck past 39-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Central.
North Central found their leader in underclassman Mya Lewis, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Lewis, who scored five points along with four steals.
Anselmo-Merna lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Makenna Miller, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Shayleigh Coleman was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
North Central now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Anselmo-Merna, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
North Central will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Stuart at 6:00 p.m. Stuart is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Anselmo-Merna, they will square off against Twin Loup at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
