The Central Jaguars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Ponce De Leon by a score of 61-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Central also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2019.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Ellison led the charge by scoring 26 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ellison has scored at least 25% of Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Baxley, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Ponce De Leon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Central will head out on the road to face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Central is ranked 65th). As for Ponce De Leon, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Wewahitchka at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully Wewahitchka focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
