It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Elgin Owls had no problem doing just that on Friday. They didn't even let Piedmont onto the board and left with a 20-0 victory. Elgin's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Matthew Lund got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Lund has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played.
Elgin pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Piedmont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.
Elgin will be playing in front of their home fans against Claremore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Claremore is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Piedmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
