The Hilmar Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 68-52 fall against Hughson. Hilmar lost against Hughson in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-40 score last time.
Hilmar's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jason Moniz, who scored 14 points, and Xavier Silveira who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Silveira's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Seth Russel, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Hilmar has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Hughson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.
Hilmar will square off against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hughson, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Riverbank at 7:00 p.m. Riverbank is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
