After flying high against the Hilltop Cadets last Tuesday, the Maumee Valley Country Day Hawks came back down to earth. Maumee Valley Country Day ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-40 walloping at the hands of the Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, Maumee Valley Country Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Eagles are ranked 33rd).
Defeat or not, Maumee Valley Country Day got some senior leadership from Amani-Jordan Chandran-Dickerson and Christian Majors. Chandran-Dickerson scored 14 points, while Majors. scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 35% of Maumee Valley Country Day's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Soriano, who scored nine points.
Maumee Valley Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Toledo Christian, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maumee Valley Country Day will stay at home for another game and welcome the at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Toledo Christian will take on the Flyers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
