The Monta Vista Matadors's game on Thursday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Cupertino 53-47. Monta Vista has not had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Leading Cupertino to victory were Soham Nighojkar and Max Feldan. Nighojkar scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Feldan scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Feldan is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Lin, who scored seven points along with six assists.
Monta Vista has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Cupertino, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lynbrook the next time they take the court. Monta Vista will host the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Pioneers will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
