Oberlin is 0-10 against Keystone since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Phoenix will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Oberlin has given up an average of 16.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Oberlin is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 20-3 to Firelands.
Oberlin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Selena Roberts, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Keystone waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Falcons.
Brooklyn Modock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Modock was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs.
In other batting news, Jordan Owca was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Ava Armitage was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Keystone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in ten consecutive games.
Keystone pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Oberlin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oberlin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Keystone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oberlin might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Keystone when the teams last played back in April. Will the Phoenix have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
