The Mullen Broncos posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They skirted past Twin Loup 42-39. For Mullen, this counts as revenge for the 41-35 loss Twin Loup walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Leading Mullen to victory were Hayley Donohoe and Harper Andersen. Donohoe scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Andersen scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Andersen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Schoonveld, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Mullen's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-5. As for Twin Loup, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Mullen will be playing in front of their home fans against Arthur County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Arthur County is ranked 221st, while Mullen is ranked 222nd). Twin Loup will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Burwell on January 30th.
