The Beaver Local Beavers will face off against the Indian Valley Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beaver Local is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
While Beaver Local's win against United wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Beavers had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Beavers have posted since April 17th.
Addie Hoppel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Beaver Local's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ally Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Indian Valley entered their tilt with Triway on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Titans by a score of 5-2.
Shelby Gossett made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Gossett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Musser, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bella Weaver, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Indian Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Beaver Local has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Valley, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Beaver Local hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Indian Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beaver Local suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Indian Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Will the Beavers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
