Jackson Hanan was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 161 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Tanner McSweeney made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
West Park didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Antelope to a completion percentage of just 36.4%. The Panthers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 60.9%.
West Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ryan Schondelmayer, McSweeney, and Chris Schwartz picked up one apiece. McSweeney got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Grant not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 15, 2024 (when they won 49-7). They blew past Destiny Christian Academy, posting a 42-6 win. Given the Pacers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Lions are ranked 276th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grant's win came from a few key players West Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shiren Crump, who threw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Grant's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. Malikii Lavern helped Crump out on the ground, rushing for 26 yards and two scores, while also picking up 48 receiving yards.
Grant's record now sits at 3-4. As for West Park, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
West Park was taken down by Grant 48-7 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Panthers, Luke Alexander (who threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
