While losing is never fun, Cartersville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while Gilmer is ranked 117th).
Cartersville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nas Bennett, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Daeyln Hall was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Cartersville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Gilmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Cartersville and Calhoun will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Gilmer, they will face off against Jackson County at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
