The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls pushed their score all the way to 75 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Cannon by a score of 77-75. While losing is never fun, Archbishop Ryan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 42nd in Pennsylvania, while Cannon is ranked fifth in North Carolina).
Archbishop Ryan's loss came despite strong showings from Darren Williams and Thomas Sorber. Williams scored 31 points along with five steals, while Sorber dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. The game was Williams' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jaden Murray was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Archbishop Ryan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Cannon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Archbishop Ryan's road trip will continue as they head out to face Westminster Academy at 11:00 a.m. on December 23rd. One thing working in Westminster Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Cannon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against McEachern at 8:00 a.m. on December 22nd.
