Volleyball Recap: Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning Takes a Loss

If Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Forest Lake Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fire Wolves fell just short of the Bear River Bruins by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Fire Wolves have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning took Bear River into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 23-25, 15-11.

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning's offense was headlined by Logan Phipps and Deacon Strutton, who picked up 15 kills apiece. They got some help from Christian McKnight and his 40 assists. Theo Aranow controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Bear River, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Encina on the 27th. As for Bear River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against California on the 29th.
