Softball Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Loss

Holy Cross dropped their record down to 3-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 15-0 to the Oldham County Colonels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 12-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

As for Oldham County, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games.

For Oldham County's part, Kennedy Dennison made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Dennison a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Aubrey Batts and Jozie Lashley did most of the damage at the plate: Batts went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Lashley got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Batts has posted since back in April of 2024. Kayla Cartledge was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Holy Cross wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-0 victory against Bullitt Central on the 16th. As for Oldham County, they have also already played their next game, an 11-9 win against South Oldham on the 15th.
