After a string of 13 wins, the Highland Scots's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. Highland has not had much luck with Independence recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than AMARIUS "AR" ROWEL, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. ARINZE ONYEGULI was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Highland's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2. As for Independence, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will take on Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 853 points over their last 11 contests. As for Independence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bakersfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bakersfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 874th, while Independence is ranked 308th).
