The South Grand Prairie Warriors will challenge the Lake Ridge Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Grand Prairie's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Lake Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, South Grand Prairie was able to grind out a solid victory over Grand Prairie, taking the game 6-1. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Gophers: they've now won six in a row.

Jonathan Mendez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Isaac Rios was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ruben Carranza, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lake Ridge came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Crowley 4-2.
Cannon Day looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lake Ridge is 3-0-1 when Day allows one or fewer hits, but 4-9-2 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayde Austin, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Lake Ridge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 4-9-3 otherwise.
Lake Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 7-9-3. As for South Grand Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 12-6-2.
South Grand Prairie's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lake Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Grand Prairie continue to outrun the ball?
South Grand Prairie skirted past Lake Ridge 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
