Christian got a great performance from Ava Barrios as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Barrios has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kaitlyn Moody was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Sherburne, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Rancho Buena Vista owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Valhalla. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Danica Nielsen's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Rancho Buena Vista let Abigail Niwata and Allison Keusch run wild. Niwata scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Keusch scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Sophia Cruz was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Christian's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Rancho Buena Vista in their previous meeting on March 8th, sneaking past 8-6. Does Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rancho Buena Vista turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
