Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) received a huge boost from its defense against Palmer (Colorado Springs, Colo.), as the unit scored 14 in defeating Palmer (Colorado Springs, Colo.), 58-7.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Luke Del Rio to
Chaz Polson in the first quarter, the Eagles led 51-7 at the half.
Valor Christian expanded its lead to 51 points entering the fourth quarter. VC's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Trey Hanley.
The Highlands Ranch school scored 12 points on special teams on the way to the victory.
Polson was the top performer for the Eagles. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
The Terrors' lone touchdown came on an 80-yard pass in the first quarter.
Valor Christian had given up an average of 6.0 points prior to the contest. Palmer's seven points were below its season average of 10.6 per game.
In a non-conference game next week Valor Christian (6-2) takes on Rock Canyon, and Palmer (0-8) will go up against Doherty in a 5A Pioneer game.
