It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Lakewood Leopards ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past East Columbus 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Among those leading the charge was Cameron Williams, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lakewood's points. Another player making a difference was Juan Parker Jr. , who scored eight points along with five steals.
East Columbus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cainan Patrick , who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquise Smith, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Lakewood now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East Columbus, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will be home for the holidays to greet Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Columbus will be home for the holidays to greet Pender at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pender comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
