Claysburg-Kimmel is 0-5 against McConnellsburg since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Bulldogs will take on the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Claysburg-Kimmel is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
While Claysburg-Kimmel didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Fannett Metal by a score of 9-5 on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Mason Campagna, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Paydden Knisely was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, while McConnellsburg put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Everett. The Spartans walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Warriors. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Kohen Hall made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McConnellsburg is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Hall was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ben Sattazahn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Claysburg-Kimmel pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for McConnellsburg, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Claysburg-Kimmel might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from McConnellsburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
