The Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering Phoenix will challenge the Wooddale Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering blew past Douglass, posting a 44-13 win. The Phoenix have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering can attribute much of their success to Deaundrea Visor, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 14 points and seven steals, and Akiyra Mattison, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. Mattison is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Adrianna Toy was another key player, putting up six points and nine steals.
Meanwhile, Wooddale hadn't done well against Melrose recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals secured a 37-31 W over the Golden Wildcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.
Wooddale found their leader in sophomore Alexia Smith, who went 6-for-9 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was London Carson, who posted three points in addition to 15 boards and four blocks.
Wooddale was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Wooddale now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wooddale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
