The Huntingdon Mustangs entered their tilt with the Ingomar Falcons with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Huntingdon came out on top against Ingomar by a score of 74-63 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Ingomar still got an impressive performance from Macie Phifer, who scored 24 points along with five assists. The matchup was Phifer's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Grisham, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Huntingdon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Ingomar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-4.
Huntingdon will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Brighton at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Ingomar will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. North Pontotoc will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Ingomar is ranked eighth).
