Oxnard is a perfect 10-0 against Ventura since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will host the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Oxnard is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on San Marcos with a sharp 13-1 win on Friday. The Yellowjackets not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2, 2025 (when they won 19-5).
Rachel Godoy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jazzlene Dominguez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Oxnard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Ventura had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Cowboys. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Jessie Sebek was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Cora Marsing was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Sophia Pimentel was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Oxnard's victory bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Ventura, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oxnard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Ventura struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oxnard was able to grind out a solid victory over Ventura when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 9-4. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
