Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Quincy Porter of
Bergen Catholic (Oradell) is the 2023 MaxPreps New Jersey High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior wide receiver led the Crusaders to an 11-1 record and third consecutive Non-Public A state title.
For the season, Porter tallied 48 receptions for 1,066 yards (22.2 yards per catch) and 16 touchdowns. In a 24-14 win over Delbarton (Morristown) in the state championship game game, he grabbed seven passes for 97 yards.

In three playoff games, Porter had 16 receptions for 311 yards and four touchdowns.
According to
247Sports, Porter is a top 50 prospect in the Class of 2025. Over 30 FBS programs have extended offers, including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas.
