Softball Recap: Gilbert Wins Going Away Against Mountain Pointe

Gilbert's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Mountain Pointe Pride as they made off with a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jasmyn Pacheco was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Imel, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Pacheco wasn't the only one making solid contact: Gilbert kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The Tigers are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Mountain Pointe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15-1 record this season.

Gilbert will be playing in front of their home fans against Higley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.58 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mountain Pointe, they will venture away from home to take on Horizon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
