Atascadero had won two straight  games  and  Damon Mitchell did his part to make it three on Friday. The Greyhounds came within four  points of losing the streak, but they secured  a   43-39 W against the Morro Bay Pirates with plenty of help from  Mitchell, who rushed for 358 yards and three  touchdowns while picking up 19.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. With that strong performance,  he is now averaging an impressive 120.8  rushing yards per game.
 Mike Trejo was another major influence, as he rushed for 39 yards and ran in a TD. His passing game has become a key predictor of Atascadero's success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.
 Atascadero's defensive line made their presence known, laying out  Sands Dougherty four times. Morro Bay's QB  won't forget  Bishop Resco anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Despite the final result, he threw for 369 yards and four  TDs while completing 75.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 80 yards and one  score.  Anthony Campanario did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 144 receiving yards.
Atascadero now  has a winning record of 5-4. As for Morro Bay, their loss was  their fifth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 3-6.
 Looking ahead, Atascadero will face off against San Luis Obispo at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. That  matchup will pit two of the most dominant  backs against one another:  Mitchell and  Colbin Garrison. As for Morro Bay, they will square off against Nipomo at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,029 yards in their previous games.
