Baseball Recap: Gulf Breeze Wins Going Away Against Navarre

After only two runs in their last contest, Gulf Breeze made sure to put some runs up on the board against Navarre on Friday. The Gulf Breeze Dolphins blew past the Navarre Raiders 12-1. Considering the Dolphins have won three games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tanner Owens spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gulf Breeze let Roman Jackson and Carter Hoeft run wild. Jackson went 4-for-5 with one home run, three doubles, and four RBI, while Hoeft went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. Jake Hooten was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Gulf Breeze always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gulf Breeze's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Navarre, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Breeze will challenge Blanchard at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Navarre, they will square off against Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Navarre is facing Milton at the right time seeing as Milton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
