Softball Recap: Harvest Community Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harvest Community had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over the Parsons Christian Academy Lions. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 19 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Naomi Winburn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Winburn was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since April 4th.

In other batting news, Bella Reding was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilia Drozdzowski, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Harvest Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Harvest Community pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Parsons Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Coming up, Harvest Community will take on University Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Christians have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. Parsons Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
