The Norland Vikings pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sagemont. Norland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sagemont apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Defeat or not, Norland got some senior leadership from Marcus Allen and Triston Wilson. Allen dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Wilson. scored 13 points along with eight assists and three steals. That's the first time this season that Wilson posted eight or more assists. Kendrick Preston was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Sagemont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Patrick Liburd led the charge by scoring 22 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Kee, who scored 26 points along with five assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Norland and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Sagemont, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.
Norland will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Windermere Prep at 1:40 p.m. on January 20th. Windermere Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Sagemont, they will head out on the road to square off against Riviera Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Riviera Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
