The Brunswick Railroaders suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were beaten by Frederick 67-22. While losing is never fun, Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Frederick is ranked 25th).
Andie Welsh and Gabby Stefanic certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Welsh scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four blocks, while Stefanic scored 12 points along with five steals. That was a full 54.5% of Brunswick's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Brunswick has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Frederick, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will take on Catoctin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Catoctin is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Frederick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Hagerstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
