San Marin has gone 8-2 against Novato recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The San Marin Mustangs will head out to square off against the Novato Hornets at 4:30 p.m. The last three games San Marin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
If San Marin beats Novato with two runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. San Marin won by a run and slipped past Redwood 2-1.
Tanner O'Keefe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.
At the plate, San Marin's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Krejdovsky, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Krejdovsky's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Novato won against Archie Williams on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Novato came out on top against Archie Williams by a score of 5-1. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Peregrine Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
JP Harmon made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Novato let Gio Castaing and Griffin Vorhaus run wild. Castaing scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Vorhaus went 1-for-3 with one home run. Those two stolen bases gave Castaing a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Oliver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Novato hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive games.
San Marin's record is now 4-2. As for Novato, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
San Marin skirted past Novato 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
