The De Pere Redbirds will head out to square off against the Menasha Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. De Pere is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, De Pere earned an 8-3 victory over Notre Dame Academy. That's two games straight that the Redbirds have won by exactly five runs.
De Pere got a great performance from Cullen Pennings as he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Pennings has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Wettstein, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Cavanaugh, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
De Pere was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame Academy only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Menasha fell victim to West De Pere and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Phantoms. Bluejays fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Phantoms since on Friday.
De Pere's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Menasha, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Menasha's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: De Pere hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Menasha, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain De Pere's hitters?
De Pere came out on top in a nail-biter against Menasha in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redbirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
