Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Piles Up the Points Against Richwood

While Notre Dame didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 58-16 win over the Richwood Lumberjacks. The Fighting Irish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Notre Dame to victory were Selena Wilson and Addy Murray. Wilson dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists, while Murray went 8 for 16 on her way to 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Wilson a new career-high in assists. Isabella Garnek was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Notre Dame smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Notre Dame pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Richwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Notre Dame will take on Trinity Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame is facing Trinity Christian at the right time seeing as Trinity Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Richwood, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clay-Battelle at 1:00 p.m. on February 8th.
