McKinney hadn't done well against Plano recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lions walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Wildcats. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won five matchups in a row.

McKinney gave Luke Leishman the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Leishman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. Jacob Kuhn relieved him and did a solid job, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, McKinney let Brandt Hodges and Tyson Todd run wild. Hodges went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Todd went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave Hodges a new career-high. Rodger Washington was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

McKinney's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Plano, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1.

McKinney has already played their next contest, an 8-2 loss against Reedy on the 5th. As for Plano, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-8 defeat against Heritage on the 5th.
