Westfield is still undefeated  this season after their  contest against High Point  on Saturday, but High Point came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Westfield Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  5-3  victory over the High Point Wildcats.
  Kevin Dowling tossed a big game,   striking out six batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned runs off   five  hits (and not a single walk).
 On the hitting side,  Jake Alfano was  excellent,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.  Randy Davis was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-3.
 Westfield pushed their record up to 6-0 with that  win, which was their sixth straight  at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.5 runs per game. As for High Point, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
 Westfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Westfield's pitching crew has only allowed three  runs per game  this season, so Scotch Plains-Fanwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for High Point, they will look to defend their home field  on Wednesday against Morris Knolls at 4:00  p.m.
