The Sale Creek Panthers lost against the Van Buren County Eagles last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Sale Creek lost to Van Buren County at home by a decisive 62-43 margin.
Sale Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Trinity Smith, who scored 16 points along with six steals, and Chelsea Levi who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilynn Ellis, who scored four points along with three steals.
Sale Creek's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Van Buren County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sale Creek will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grace Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Van Buren County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bledsoe County at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Bledsoe County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
