The Shafter Generals were the 56-43 winner over the Mira Monte Lions when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Shafter fell 61-48 to Mira Monte on Saturday.
Shafter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Cardenas, who scored 16 points along with five steals. The matchup was Cardenas' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Gonzalez, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Shafter's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Mira Monte, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Golden Valley the next time they take the court. Shafter will host Golden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Mira Monte will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
