Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Cowan Blackhawks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 46-35 to the Broncos on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cowan of the 43-28 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Cowan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Davelynn Lindsay, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Lindsay has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Norris, who scored five points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Daleville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabelle Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Williams continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addi Gothrup, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Cowan has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Daleville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-13.
Cowan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Daleville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Jets at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Anderson Prep Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
