The Emery Spartans will head out to challenge the Delta Rabbits at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Tuesday, Emery didn't have quite enough to beat Carbon and fell 4-3.
Emery saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Christiansen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Delta fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against North Sanpete on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Rabbits have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dax Bliss was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Hunt Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kyler Davies was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Delta's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Emery, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Emery has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Delta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Emery took their win against Delta in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
