Horizon hasn't had much luck against El Dorado recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Scorpions will head out on the road to face off against the Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. Horizon has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Horizon came up short against Del Valle on Wednesday, falling 27-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Dorado). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bel Air a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Aztecs have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Maya Fernandez was incredible, firing off two home runs, five runs, and six RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Triana, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bel Air only posted an OBP of .211.
El Dorado's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-19.
Horizon might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from El Dorado when the teams last played back in March. Can the Scorpions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
