After having lost a blowout in their previous game against T.C. Roberson, the Enka Jets were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Asheville and snuck past 62-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Sam Waddell, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Enka's points. Another player making a difference was Logan Trantham, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Asheville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zeke Garris, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Aris Joyner was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and five assists.
Enka's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Asheville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Enka will take on A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Asheville, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Buncombe at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. North Buncombe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Asheville likes a good challenge.
