Baseball Game Preview: Morehead Panthers vs. Walkertown Wolfpack

Morehead is 8-2 against Walkertown since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. Morehead will be strutting in after a win while Walkertown will be coming in after a loss.

Morehead was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bartlett Yancey on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Buccaneers. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by eight runs or more this season.

Morehead got a massive performance out of Judson Friese, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Friese a new career-high. Reece Dunovant was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Walkertown came up short against McMichael on Friday, falling 12-4.

Gio Maneen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Morehead now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Walkertown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Morehead has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Walkertown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Morehead skirted past Walkertown 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
