The Greenway Demons will square off against the Moon Valley Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greenway has four straight wins, Moon Valley has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Moon Valley's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Greenway hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Demons never let Tempe get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Demons have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Carlos Toscano and Dylan Archuleta did most of the damage at the plate: Toscano went 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs, while Archuleta scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Toscano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thaddeus Newman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Greenway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Moon Valley came up short against Mingus on Friday, falling 8-1.
Moon Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Crystian Norstrom, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Greenway pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Moon Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Moon Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Greenway has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .516. It's a different story for Moon Valley, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Greenway's hitters?
Greenway took their win against Moon Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-6 score. Do the Demons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
