After flying high against Morel Campos last Tuesday, Teachers Prep came back down to earth. Teachers Prep was beaten by Summit Academy 73-32 on Friday. Teachers Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-14.
Summit Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amerie Santana out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Santana continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sariah Gammon was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with seven steals.
Teachers Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Summit Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Teachers Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on All City Leadership Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Summit Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Van Arsdale at 10:00 a.m. on January 13th. Van Arsdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 414th, while Summit Academy is ranked 122nd).
