The Clinton Dragons and the Walker Valley Mustangs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Clinton Dragons had to settle for second. Clinton took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walker Valley. Clinton's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Defeat or not, Clinton got some senior leadership from Jawan Goins who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on only six carries and Joshuah Keith who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Goins was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Evan Schwarzl was his usual excellent self, throwing for 271 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Makuch, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Clinton now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Walker Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Clinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Walker Valley will head out on the road to face off against West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
