Christian Learning Center's rough 72-47 defeat to Heartland on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. Christian Learning Center was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.
Despite the defeat, Christian Learning Center saw an underclassman step up: Easton Rhodes scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Rhodes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Koch, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Heartland found their leader in underclassman Jayce Maiden, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Maiden's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Diego Martinez, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Christian Learning Center's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Heartland, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Learning Center will challenge Center Place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Center Place focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Monday. As for Heartland, they will head out on the road to face off against Plaza Heights Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
