University had to suffer through a rough 53-18 loss at the hands of Winter Park. University has not had much luck with Winter Park recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the defeat, University saw an underclassman step up: Laura Martinez scored 6 points. Martinez scored a full 33.3% of University's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Maliyah Lockhart was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Ariel Lynn Pham was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
University's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Winter Park, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Jones at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Jones is ranked 467th, while University is ranked 456th). As for Winter Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
